GASSO - Georgia Student Scholarship Organization
The Opportunity: For the last three years, the Georgia Educational Expense Credit has allowed Georgia taxpayers to take a TAX CREDIT against their Georgia income taxes for amounts contributed to the GASSO scholarship program. This is not a donation, it is a re-allocation of your state tax obligation to fund a scholarship, and it can be designated directly to student scholarships at ClearWater Academy. For the 2011-2012 school year, the GASSO funds have helped several special needs families come to ClearWater Academy. The cost of raising a special needs child is tremendous, and this is how you can help! For Individuals: Under the 2008 law, individual taxpayers receive a tax credit against the Georgia income tax liability for amounts contributed to the GASSO Program up to $1,000 ($2,500 in the case of a married couple filing a joint return). Thus, if a married couple owes $10,000 in Georgia taxes, they can contribute $2,500 to GASSO for scholarships at ClearWater Academy and pay the remaining $7,500 to the Georgia State Treasury. For Corporations: Corporations receive a tax credit for amounts contributed to the GASSO Program up to 75% of their Georgia income tax liability. Currently, this tax credit is only fully available to āCā corporations. Unfortunately, shareholders of āSā corporations and members of LLCs and LLPs are subject to the individual tax credit limitations. The Process is Simple: Please visit the GASSO website for information and to download contribution forms. www.gascholarships.org or call the GASSO at 678-947-0238. More importantly, donors can designate that their contributions be used in support of scholarships at ClearWater Academy. Your help is greatly appreciated!
